Snetterton 5 hours 2006

Qualifying :

The Snetterton 5 Hours attracted 27 Cars for the opening race of 2006 Uniroyal Fun Cup.
Marc tested the new car on Friday and got down to low 1m 27 seconds, while Richard set the best qualifying lap on Saturday at 1.28.2, which was 12th fastest. The grid however was drawn by ballot, so it was largely irrelevant…as we drew 20th place on the grid.

The Race:

Richard started the race and had begun to make good progress, but unfortunately on lap 5 collided with the “Beaver” racing entry at Coram. Richard was up the inside attempting a pass, when the Beaver car closed the gap. Both cars spun off at high speed, with our car limping back to the pits with a broken wheel and damaged rear suspension.
The Chad racing crew set swiftly to work to repair the car, but we lost 9 laps before the car was ready to go again. Progress from then was further restricted by dreadful handing (severe under steer) from a car clearly suffering with front tracking problems. In retrospect perhaps we should have stopped to sort out the problem and treat the rest of the race as a test session: instead we plugged on to finish 17th out of the 20 finishers

Not a good start, but the pit crew all deserve a mention as they toiled to keep the show going. So thanks to Ivan, Colm, and all the guys at Chad racing for their efforts.

Race Lap Times:
